Before Season 2

خلال رحلتي في الموسم الأول، التي انتهت بثمان عشر تدوينة – كانت كلها تأسس لما هو قادم في الأيام الآتية – تعرفت على نفسي، كما تعرفت على هذه المدينة الغارقة في القصص و الحكايات. في صباح يوما من أيام شتاء ٢٠١٦، في أواخر السنة، عرّفني أحدهم لمجموعة من الأشخاص، بأنني جعفر، الذي لا يعرف شيء سوى شوارع المنامة، يعرفها “زرنوق زرنوق”، كما يعرف تفاصيل بيته.
شكرته حينها على حسن ظنه، كما أن المجموعة أبدت اعجابها بهذا التخصص في المدينة و هذه المعرفة الواسعة بتفاصيلها. إلا أنني في الواقع، أرى نفسي أبعد ما يكون من هذه المعرفة التي تسوق باسمي. لا أبخس حقي، إنني أعرف الكثير فعلًا، لكن اذا ما قارنتها بحقيقة هذه المدينة، فإنك تقارن بحيرة بمحيط عظيم. هذه ليست مبالغة.
لا يجب أن نبحث بعيدا على ما يؤكد هذا، بل إن الأدلة على كلامي في كل زاوية و جهة، الأبواب، انحناءات المباني و الاقواس، ضيق الشوارع و اتساعها، الألوان و الاصباغ، رسائل الحب و الجدران، المساجد و الكنائس و المعابد، المطاعم و أصناف أطباقها، كلها صفحات من كتاب واحد، طبقات لتاريخ متراكم، عن تكون و مدينة تمزج بين المحلية و العالمية بشكل رهيب جميل. كتاب مفتوح، يمكن قراءته من اي مكان تتواجد فيه. فمن مشى قليلا في المنامة، يعلم يقينًا بأن هذا المكان كان نقطة انطلاق لمجتمع ريادي في المنطقة، مجتمع لا ترى سوى آثاره، لكن الواقع قد شهد تغيرات ديموغرافية كبيرة، تعبر هي كذلك عما آلت إليه الأمور لاحقة، و هذه قصة أخرى. لا يمكن لفرد واحد أن يلم بكل هذه القصة و لو شاء و احب هو ذلك فعلا.
إنني حين أرى نفسي اليوم، أراني مع كل ما أعرفه غارق في مياه طحلة، أليست هذه فكرة مجنونة؟ أن تغرق في مياه ليست عميقة؟ بلا، انني غارق في الأسئلة و الدروس التي يمكن أن نكتسبها، نحن كجيل شاب، من هذه المدينة العريقة، مع طحولة ما أعرفه و ما أعيه عنها و عن تاريخها. لذلك قررت، أن يكون الموسم الثاني متركز على رسالتين، دروس من المكان، و شباب في المدينة.

Throughout my journey in the first season, which ended up with 18 blogs, they all established what was coming in the coming days: I knew myself as I knew this city is steeped with many stories and tales.
On one of 2016 winter mornings; someone introduced me to a group of people as “Jaffar who knows nothing but each and every road and alley in Manama” as much as he knows his house.
On one hand, I thanked him for his good intuition, the group on the other hand was impressed by what he had said, by this specialization of the city and this extensive knowledge in details.

Nevertheless, I see myself in the furthest point of this description that is marked by my name! I do not underestimate myself, of course I know a lot , but once you compare this knowledge with the reality of this city; you would compare a lake with a great ocean! This is not exaggeration at all!

We do not have to look far from my sayings. Evidence are everywhere, in each corner and destination, the curves of buildings and arches, the narrowness and width of the streets, the paints and colors, the letters of love and the walls, the mosques, the churches, the temples, the restaurants and their dishes,they are all pages of one book, layers of accumulated history. An open book which can be read from any point you stand on. Whoever walks a little in Manama knows for sure that this place is the start of a pioneering society in the region. A society that sees not only its effects, but the reality has seen great demographic changes that are also a reflection of what happened later, and this is another story. No one can know the whole story if he wants to and he really does.

Today, when I see myself, I see it with everything I know drowned in shallow water. Is not that crazy? To sink into the water that is not deep from the first place ? Yes, I am steeped in the questions and lessons that we can gain, we are the young generation of this ancient city, and with the shallowness of what I know and what I mean about it and its history. So, I decided that the second season would be based on two messages: lessons from the place, and young people in the city.
