“Was the dove weeping atop of the swaying branch, or was it singing melodies?” – Abu Alaa Al Me’ri
The art of the Fijiri can be expressed within this excerpt of a poem by Alaa AlMe’ri. The art of the Fijiri in Bahrain specifically, is a music form that is meant to entertain the seamen on their journeys away from home, the music is a perfect blend of nostalgia and longing. It represents strands of warmth that weave the wounds of longing and memories. This art work conveys the strength of the art of Al Fijiri in being a source of hope for seamen in the midst of the sea at a time when a physical connection to the land was not possible.
