تمتد المنطقة الحديثة هذه من حيّ الفاضل و إلى باب البحرين، انشأت هذه المناطق في أغلبها على أراضي ردم و دفان كانت في مطلع الخمسينات و السيدينيات، حيث أنها كانت تشكل طلة ساحلية مباشرة.

على امتداد المنطقة هذه لم يكن مبنًا مرتفعًا كمثل مبنى مجمع يتيم، المبنى الأول بهذا الارتفاع1، و الذي ما زال يملك أحد أسرع المصاعد في البحرين2، كدليل ثابت على التميز و الطموح الموجود حينها، لم يكن مجمع يتيم وحدة، بل أن أغلب المباني في هذا الجزء – إن لم تكن كلها – تملك صفات مميزة، جميعها تتكلم بلغة فريدة قل نظيرها اليوم.

في كل مبنى تجد باحة صغيرة تتوسطه، و مساحة للمرور خلالها من الطرق العام، في حين يكون فوقك جسور و امتدادت للمباني، كأنهم يخلقون مساحتين متداخلتين للحياة، عبر المستوى الأرض، و فوق مستوى الأرض، مما يخلق مساحات كبيرة من التناظر بين الضوء و الظل، هذا كله في بيئة معمارية تنتشر فيها المكاتب و المعامل و المحلات و الشقق، بيئة تجارية و سكنية مشتركة.

This modern area is located in the place between Al-Fadhel neighborhood and Bab Al-Bahrain. It was founded on the reclamations area where created in 50s and 60s across the northern sea coast of Manama city.

There was no higher building in the area than Yateem Complex, the first high vertical project in the area1. And it still has one of the fastest elevators in the country2, as a proof for the high ambitions of the project. All the other building also were have a very special characteristics, that it is so rare nowadays.

In most of the buildings we have semi courtyards in the middle, that has direct connection to the public streets, and plays as a semi-public spaces for everyone! In these spaces you walking between different building, under some cantilevers and bridges that link all the buildings together. Voids and Masses. Contrast between light and shadow. And all that in a place that have offices, workshops, shops, and department. In one commercial residential place.
