هذا هو العنصر الأخير ضمن عنصر العِمارة البحرينية، و الذي تناولناها خلال منطقة العوضية، لا تنحصؤ العناصر على هذه العناصر الأربعة فقط، لكننا نتناول الأهم، كما هو “البادكَير” الذي لا نراه كثيراً في المنامة أو ضواحيها، سوى حيّ العوضية.

قد جُلِب “البادكَير” فعلياً من ايران إلى دول المنطقة، رغم أنه موجود في الثقافة المصرية القديمة و غيرها، و كان هذا البرد الطيني الرفيع يصمم بدقة لجمع الهواء البارد من الطبقات الهوائية المرتفعة ثم إدراجه لداخل البيت، و إتاحة مسار هوائي لخروج الهواء الحار أيضاً، غير أنه البنائين ينجحون في كل مرة لحرف “البادكَير” و جعله عنصر معماري جميل و مثير للاهتمام، متماشياً مع أبعاد المنزل و أسلوب تصميمه.

هذا العنصر لم يكن رخيصاً بالطبع! بل هو بدون مبالغة من الأعلى تكلفه، حيث لا سبيل لكل بيت للحصول عليه، بل أن الأمر كان فقط في منازل التجار – و ليس أي تاجر –، و هو الأمر الذي تشتهر به العوضية، كانت العوضية قديماً مليئة بالـ “بادكَيرات”، لأنها موطن التجار قديماً، و لليوم تنتشر فيما بين الأزقة بعض من الأمثلة على ذلك.

This is the last architectural element in this series. Beside doors, windows, and Mashribya, “Badqer” or “the wind tower” is important. But we don’t see in within Manama Heart except in Al-Awadiya neighborhood.

The “Badqer” was imported from Iran to our region, even if some other Arabic countries – like Egypt – were use it already centuries ago. This tall tower was made carefully to bring the cool air – which is exist in the upper levels – to the house, and provide a path to let the hot air go out. With this function, the builders was also successful to make it interesting and well looking within the proportions of the house.

Making “Badqer” wasn’t cheap at all! It might be the most expensive architectural element in the old architecture! That’s why it’s not so popular in the country except some several location. Al-Awadiya is one of these locations. Awadiya was full with Badqers, and still you can see some examples there.
