بدلاً من الحديث عن الأبواب الحديثة و سلسلة التأثيرات السلبية لها على الساحة المعمارية و هوية المنطقة، سوف نمضي اليوم في الحديث عن النوافذ القديمة، كعنصر ثاني من العناصر المعمارية، و نرجي للمدخلات الحديثة كلها مدونة واحدة في نهاية سلسلة “عناصر معمارية”، حيث سنعرض مقاربة مباشرة بين الماضي و الحاضر حينها.

في منطقتنا بشكل عام، و في البحرين بشكل خاص، لا تستخدم النوافذ عادةً لأغراض بيئية، كتجديد الهواء و ما شابه، لأن المقدار المكتسب من الحرارة الخارجية هي أضعاف مضاعفة لمقدار التجدد في الهواء، أو بمعنى أبسط سلبيات استخدام النوافذ لأغراض بيئية هي أكبر من ايجابياتها في هذا الجانب1 – سنعود لهذا الموضوع حين الحديث عن المشربيات مستقبلاً – مما يجعل استخدامنا لها محصور في سبيل الحصول على الضوء و الرؤية، و هما غرضين وظيفيين بامتياز يمكن الحصول عليهما بأي شكل نافذة كان، هنا بالتحديد موضع الاختلاف بين العمارة القديمة و ما تلاها في العوضية!

لا تشكل النوافذ سوى نسبة أقل من 30% من واجهة المباني هنا2، إلى أنها لا تخرج من عقول المالكين و البنائين ابداً، ضمن أبعاد ثابتة جميلة، يهتمون بأدق التفاصيل! مع ذات المواد الطبيعية التي نجدها في الأبواب، تنضم هذه النوافذ إلى التفاصيل المهمة، التي تشكل جمال هذه العمارة، حيث أنها تكتسي بخشب كان يوماً ما أزرق اللون3، و مجموعة من الزجاج الملون الصغير، الذي يتواجد عادةً في الجهات المطلعة على الشوارع و الأزقة الواسعة.

Instead of talking about new doors and how it effects badly in the architectural field and the identity of the area, we will talk about the old windows, as the second element of the architectural elements. And, I will write a blog about the whole new elements in the end of “Architectural elements” series. Where we will have a better vision to discuss the differences.

In our region, and specifically in Bahrain, it is not functional to use windows as a solution for the environmental issues. Sine the amount of heat that will enter the building is much higher than the amount air exchange1. So, the only reason behind using windows is to provide natural lighting and views. This function could be reached by any shape or type of windows! Here is the different between the old minds and the new ones!

Windows are no more than 30% of old buildings Façades in Al-Awadheyah2. But it still very important element in the builders and owners’ minds! With fixed proportions that fits with whole building. The details are amazing! In the same materials of the doors! Wood -which it was Cyan3-, beside the small colorful pieces of glass. Which exist mainly on the street sides.
